Lawrence A. Bernert, III, CFA

Mr. Bernert is a Principal and Portfolio Manager at Wilbanks, Smith & Thomas Asset Management, LLC in Norfolk, Virginia. He sits on the Firm's Investment Committee and has served as the Director of Research. Prior to joining WST he was a broker with Morgan Keegan and Company, and his prior work experience includes Childress Klein Properties, a commercial real estate developer in Atlanta, Georgia, and GA Partners/Arthur Andersen, a real estate consulting firm in Washington, DC.

Mr. Bernert graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in English Literature and additional study at Cambridge University in England and received an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Current community activities include serving as a Trustee of the Employees Retirement System of the City of Norfolk, the Economic Development Authority of the City of Norfolk, the Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters Development Advisory Committee, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation Advisory Board, Elizabeth River Project Board and the Economics Club of Hampton Roads Board. He is president of the Norfolk Academy Alumni Association and Co-Chairman of the Board of the Tidewater Leadership Prayer Luncheon.
